During my stay in Chicago, as an architecture student, I couldn’t miss the work of Frank LLoyd Wright. So I spend a day in Oak park, visiting his home and studio, and afterwards, walking its streets admiring and picturing his work. I was so jealous about all those people living in there, it has to be amazing, so much good architecture around! Oak Park has the most part of Wright prairie house, and queen’s anne style, which was the style of the time before he developed his own style. I know the most important and exquisite one it Robbie house, and although it deserves its own post, maybe you change your mind ( as I did) and discover Robbie house is not the best one.
* FLLW house and studio.
* Queen Anne Style
* William Winslow House 1893, River Forest
* Hills DeCaro House ( this is my favorite, prairie and japanese style)
* Frank W. Thomas House
* Arthur Heurtley House
* Moore-Dugal Residence (Tudor influences)
* Laura Gale House
* Unity Temple
Each one is diferent on its way, but at the end of the trip, all looked the same, don’t you think?
